Aiden Markram and Temba Bavuma are set to lead South Africa in the upcoming white-ball tour of Australia in August. Bavuma returns after recovering from a hamstring injury sustained during the World Test Championship final in June, while Markram was rested. Both missed the recent Test series in Zimbabwe, and Markram also sat out the T20I tri-series involving New Zealand.
"It's great to have our senior players back," stated head coach Shukri Conrad. "Their experience adds significant value as we build a strong core in both formats. This series is crucial for shaping our squads for the upcoming T20 World Cup and the 50-over World Cup in 2027."
Conrad added, "Touring Australia presents a tough challenge. Their conditions and intensity will test us, and that's exactly what we need."
Here are the announced squads:
South Africa T20I Squad:
South Africa ODI Squad:
Prenelan Subrayen receives his maiden ODI and T20I call-up after debuting in Test cricket in Zimbabwe. He captained the Dolphins to the One-Day Cup title earlier this year. Lhuan-dre Pretorius also earns his first ODI selection after making his Test and T20I debuts in Zimbabwe recently. Dewald Brevis, who debuted in the Zimbabwe Test series, is included in both squads.
Several players, including Markram, Rickelton, Stubbs, Bosch, Burger, Ngidi, and Rabada, feature in both the T20I and ODI squads.
The tour begins with T20Is on August 10, 12, and 16, followed by three ODI matches on August 19, 22, and 24.
