After a bright Day 3, ominous clouds gathered over Manchester on Friday evening. According to reports from the ground, the weather forecast for Day 4 and Day 5 is unfavorable. Day 4 is particularly important for India as they need to bat, and they struggled under similar cloudy conditions on the opening day.
If India get to bat on Day 4, rain is expected. The dark clouds and chilly winds could create challenging conditions for the Indian team, who are already under pressure in this Test match.
The UK Met Office forecasts light rain at the start of the day, transitioning to overcast conditions by late morning. Temperatures are expected to range from 16°C to 20°C.
There is a 50–60% chance of rain during the morning session. However, the weather might improve later, with the probability of showers decreasing to 40% by tea and 30% by stumps.
India, currently trailing 1-2 in the five-match series, also carry the weight of history, having never won a Test match at Old Trafford.
England currently hold a strong position, concluding Day 3 at 544/7. Joe Root's impressive 150 runs extended their lead to 186 runs. Ben Stokes remains not out on 77, and the hosts aim to secure the series victory.
