Sidhu Criticizes Gambhir's Team Selection Tactics Amidst England's Dominance
Former Indian cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu has strongly criticized the team selection strategies employed by India's head coach, Gautam Gambhir, during the ongoing fourth Test match against England at Old Trafford, Manchester.

Sidhu, speaking on his YouTube channel, voiced his concerns after England's impressive score of 544/7 at the end of Day 3. He argued that the frequent changes in the Indian team have disrupted the team's rhythm and ability to perform cohesively.
Sidhu expressed his frustration, stating, "In the third match, Bumrah returns and Prasidh Krishna is dropped. In the fourth match, Akash Deep gets injured and Anshul Kamboj is brought in. What is going on? Have you ever seen this many changes? It's not just bad, it's worse."
He emphasized that this constant rotation is detrimental to building a solid team foundation. "You're not able to build a proper combination. Who understands better than Gautam Gambhir that teams win because of combinations, not individual brilliance? When he was with KKR, it was the six-bowler combination that picked up 106 wickets. That made the difference," Sidhu pointed out.
Sidhu also questioned several decisions made throughout the four Test matches. "In the first match, Bumrah plays but Shardul isn't given the ball alongside him. Then Shardul gets dropped, Bumrah doesn't play, Akash Deep comes in, Washington Sundar comes in, Nitish Reddy comes in," he remarked, highlighting the lack of consistency in the team's composition.
He further criticized India's bowling performance, particularly the absence of Kuldeep Yadav and the noticeable decrease in Jasprit Bumrah's bowling speed.
"Today, it felt like there were only two and a half bowlers. Just look at Bumrah. In the first Test, over 40% of his balls were over 140 km/h. Today, only one ball crossed that mark. So somewhere, the engine looks tired," Sidhu observed.
With England leading the series 2-1 and currently dominating the fourth Test, the spotlight has intensified on India's selection policies and overall team management.
