Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and head coach Chandrakant Pandit have mutually agreed to part ways after three seasons.
Pandit's tenure began in August 2022, succeeding Brendon McCullum after the latter's appointment as England's Test head coach. A significant achievement during Pandit's time with KKR was leading the team, under Shreyas Iyer's captaincy, to their championship victory in 2024, ending a decade-long wait for the trophy.
"Mr. Chandrakant Pandit has decided to explore new opportunities and will not continue as Head Coach of Kolkata Knight Riders," the franchise announced in a statement released on Tuesday, July 29.
The statement further acknowledged Pandit's contributions: "We are thankful for his invaluable contributions - including leading KKR to the Tata IPL Championship in 2024 and helping build a strong, resilient squad. His leadership and discipline have left a lasting impact on the team. We wish him all the very best for the future."
During his tenure, KKR secured 22 wins out of 42 matches, with 18 losses and 2 no-results. However, the 2025 season saw a less successful campaign, with the team finishing eighth, managing only five wins in their 14 league games.
The Kolkata Knight Riders are yet to announce who will replace Pandit as head coach.
