Pakistani batter Haider Ali is facing a criminal investigation in England, leading to his immediate suspension by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The situation arose following Haider Ali's arrest concerning allegations of sexual molestation. He has been released on bail.
The 24-year-old, who has represented Pakistan in two ODIs and 35 T20Is, was reportedly apprehended by the Greater Manchester police in Hove around August 3rd. At the time of his arrest, Haider Ali was playing for Pakistan Shaheens in a one-day match at Beckenheim.
The PCB has acknowledged the ongoing criminal investigation being conducted by the Greater Manchester Police, stating that it "pertains to an incident that reportedly occurred during the Pakistan Shaheens' recent tour of England."
The PCB released a statement emphasizing its commitment to the well-being and legal rights of its players. The board has ensured that Haider Ali has access to appropriate legal support to protect his rights throughout the investigation.
"The PCB fully respects the legal procedures and processes of the United Kingdom and acknowledges the importance of allowing the investigation to run its due course. Accordingly, the PCB has decided to place Haider Ali under provisional suspension, effective immediately, pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation," the statement concluded.
