Officials from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have publicly expressed their dissatisfaction with the quality of the pitch at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNS), stating on Friday that they never directed the grounds committee to prepare a low and slow surface.
Nazmul Abedin, the chairman of the BCB's cricket operations, emphasized that the wicket at SBNS was unsatisfactory.
The criticism follows Bangladesh's recent 2-1 series victory over Pakistan at the venue. While a win, the series drew scrutiny as the host's victories in the first two matches came on a pitch that significantly hampered batters. The team's batting frailties were subsequently exposed in the third T20I, which was contested on a much-improved surface.
