Naseeruddin Shah criticized Rajesh Khanna's influence on Hindi cinema. He said Khanna brought mediocrity to Bollywood in the 1970s. Shah believed Khanna was a limited actor whose taste negatively impacted film quality. He also noted a decline in script, lyrics, and music during that era. Shah feels current actors are insecure and unwilling to take risks.
