Vikrant Massey clarifies his reasons for taking a break from acting.
Massey clarified that his hiatus was a conscious choice to prioritize his personal life and self-improvement. "No, if at any point I feel like I need to take a break to become a better version of myself, then I will take that break," Vikrant told Bollywood Bubble. "The idea was always to better myself and, of course, to spend time with my family."
The actor, who welcomed his son Vardaan in 2024, revealed the emotional toll that his demanding schedule had taken. "The last few years have been phenomenal, but I’ve been away from my family, shooting non-stop. I had a baby boy, and you know what’s heartbreaking?" he shared.
He continued, "His memories of me are from videos. His first tooth came in, but I wasn’t there. He said ‘Papa’ for the first time in my absence. His first memory of me is through a video, which I’ve saved in a folder. I mean, that’s ridiculous, right?"
Addressing Burnout, Not Announcing Retirement
Vikrant Massey emphasized that his decision was not a retirement announcement, but rather a response to burnout. It was a period for him to spend time with his family and to reassess his artistic journey.
"If I feel the need to go back to the drawing board and better myself as an actor, I will," he stated. "Because of the blessings I’ve received, because of the privilege I have, I will go back, work on myself, and then come back."
During his time away, Massey dedicated himself to self-reflection, reviewing his past performances to identify areas for growth. He explained that the break provided him with clarity regarding his creative stagnation and allowed him to re-evaluate his future career trajectory.
