Northern Superchargers produced a commanding performance at Lord’s on Sunday, brushing aside 2023 champions Southern Brave by seven wickets to seal their first Hundred Women’s title. It was a fitting end to a campaign where they had grown in confidence, and on the big day, they outclassed their more seasoned opponents.
Put in to bat, Brave never quite found their rhythm. Maia Bouchier and Danni Wyatt-Hodge gave them a quick start, but Kate Cross and Annabel Sutherland applied the brakes with disciplined spells. Laura Wolvaardt fell first ball, and despite Sophie Devine’s attempt to anchor the innings, Brave’s middle order faltered.

Freya Kemp’s counterattacking 26 off 16 briefly revived hopes, but regular wickets meant they limped to 115 for 6. Cross and Sutherland were the standouts with two wickets apiece, ensuring the Brave’s power-hitters were kept in check.
Chasing 116, the Superchargers lost Davina Perrin and Alice Davidson-Richards inside 30 balls, but their batting depth soon told. Phoebe Litchfield continued her stellar tournament with a blazing 26 from just 13 balls, maintaining momentum and keeping the required rate in control.
When she departed, Nicola Carey and Annabel Sutherland took charge with calm authority. Carey, later named Player of the Match, struck an unbeaten 35 off 25 balls, finding boundaries at crucial junctures, while Sutherland’s composed 28 complemented her perfectly. Together, they steered the chase home in 88 balls, leaving Brave with no route back.
For the Superchargers, the triumph marked the culmination of a breakthrough season. Litchfield’s consistency earned her Player of the Series honours, finishing with 292 runs, while their balanced attack repeatedly delivered under pressure.
Southern Brave: 115/6 in 100 balls. Freya Kemp 26, Danni Wyatt-Hodge 25; Kate Cross 2/23, Annabel Sutherland 2/23
Northern Superchargers: 119/3 in 88 balls. Nicola Carey 35*, Annabel Sutherland 28*; Chloe Tryon 1/19, Sophie Devine 1/21
Result: Northern Superchargers beat Southern Brave by 7 wickets.
